Scott's Cobble and Wanderings About: 20 Apr, 2018 - 22 Apr, 2018

We had the opportunity to spend a couple of weekends across the lake in Lake Placid, or as G calls it, "The fun place where we go on adventures." Our first weekend left much to be desired in terms of weather and trail conditions... yeah, we're snobs.

"Sigh... wake me up when mud season is over." (G)

We still had a good time, got the senior correspondent some new running shoes, and broke them in with a few laps around Mirror Lake.

The next weekend, we had much better luck.

Man, this New York traffic just sucks!

In fact, we could have practiced our hound skijoring! (ten points for every evasive maneuver ending in a face plant)

But since we had to see a guy about a door in the middle of Saturday, we kept the weekend cool and fun. In the morning we headed over to Scott's Cobble, where the Barkeater Trails Alliance has been working hard at establishing a fantastic little network of trails that will be great for light gear BC skiing when the snowpack returns.

In the afternoon, after seeing a guy about a door, we got our walkies around town.

Image taken shortly before my reprimanding the Editor in Chief for trying to walk on what's left of the ice.

"It's not walkies until I flops." (G)

There is a downside of having the first two sunny days in almost three weeks. When there isn't a cloud in the sky, the sunsets kinda suck. Still, we addicts of the Golden Hour head out. This time though, since there weren't any awesome clouds, we mailed it in and went to one of the most common spots in the area. Still fun, still halfway decent pictures. The steak after the fact at the Cascade Inn was far better than the sunset.

Dear Adobe, Thanks for the new color profiles.

We have quite a bit more coming here at Wandering Hounds. The senior correspondent is going to get his ass kicked in a 5k in a few weeks, and then kicked again on a multi day trip into the Seward Range in June. The editor-in-chief will silently judge me as she waits for me to catch up to her in said Seward Range. We're going to do a Spring gear inventory and checklist post soon... as soon as we get all of our Spring gear into one location. So for the few of you actually reading this, what are your nifty hiking gear must haves? Let's see if the comment section works!
